How do I bid?

Bidding is easy! After you've registered and confirmed your account, you will be elegible to bid. We employ a system known as "proxy bidding' in order to make bidding as easy as possible. The system works like this:

  • When placing your bid, enter the maximum price you are willing to pay for this particular bid. All maximum bids are kept confidential and is not displayed to other bidders.
  • The proxy bidding system will compare your bid to the bids of others to see if it beats them.
  • Using only as much of your bid as necessary to attain the high bid, the system will bid on your behalf. The system will continue to bid up to the maximum amount you've entered, only when there is a competing bid made.
  • You will be outbid when another bidder offers a higher bid. Should no other bidder have a higher maximim bid price, you will become and remain the high bidder.
  • If you are not outbid by the time the auction ends, you win the auction! Since your bid is raised only when there is a competing bid, your maximum bid may not necessarily be reached and your winning bid may be less than your maximum, thereby saving you money!

Please ensure that you have entered your correct maximum bid amount when placing your bid. Our bidding policy doesn't allow for cancellations once a bid has been made.

What is "buy now"?

Most auctions have a “Buy it now” button which displays the buy now price and the bidder select “Buy now” button, he will be redirected to the Paypal to pay the price of the koi. In the moment when the payment is confirmed, the auction is closed and the bidder wins the koi at the "buy now" price.

What is "make an offer"?

Most auctions will have a “Make an offer” link. By clicking this link, the user can make an offer bigger on the individual auction koi. The offer is kept private and once the auction ends, if there are no successful bids, then the person that "made an offer" becomes the winner if the offer is accepted by the administrator.

There is a minimum offer price set which the bidder will not be able to see. You will receive an on-screen message immediately if the offer price was too low or if the offer was registered. In the latter case, you will have to wait until the auction has ended to see whether your offer was accepted or not.

Please keep in mind that there may be multiple offers and that yours may not necessarily be the highest.
